21 Days Round 1 - Bye Bye Tobacco

21 Days Makes a Habit - or hopefully in this case,

Breaks a Habit

July 5th 2015 will (hopefully) be recognized going forward as my day of freedom from cigarettes. Although I had thought that I wanted to be a non-smoker by my 40th birthday I hadn't made a plan. But that night I lit up my last cigarette, took my typical 2 puffs, realized I hated the taste and put it in the ashtray with the other 20+ barely smoked butts. And the next morning as I drove to work, I chose not to buy anymore.

So 3 weeks later I've potentially had my blood pressure and heart rate return to normal. Although they've never really been an issue for me. The level of carbon monoxide in my blood has gone back to normal and my circulation and breathing should have improved.

I don't honestly feel that different but I just take it as one day at a time.  The first few days I definitely thought about it at the 2 times in the day I typically smoked. Drive in to work and drive home from work. And then we took a trip to Vegas and that created a bunch of Pavlov Dog's reactions but I pushed through.

I've recognized it was most definitely a relaxation tool for me. When I got very stressed about a family pool party/BBQ on the weekend I thought about it a lot but I didn't weaken.

I haven't taken a puff because I don't think I can do that and not start again. And I didn't think I could do the vaporizing thing either. There are still too many unknowns about the health effects of the vaporizing (negative) so I didn't want to trade one bad thing for another.

21 Days Round 2 will be making daily exercise a Habit. Stay Tuned...
